At first I was blown away by the idea of running Android apps. on Ubuntu but quickly came to realise that really all it is is an emulator, which we already have in the Android SDK. But then I remembered a conversation I had with some co-workers in which we thought being able to run iPhone apps. in Mac OS would be handy. The iPhone app. emulator is quite decent and you’d really just need to tweak some launch and persistence systems to make it workable. What mobile apps. would make the transition though? Which would be worthwhile on your desktop? Going through my iPhone I found these; reQall, myAnalytics, Convertbot, Stocks, Weather, iStat, Twecipe, Surf Report, Shazam, Deliveries, Phases, Sky+, Slicehost Pro and many games. Some of these have desktop versions but the mobile versions are superior or serve a different purpose. §
