There is a lot to like in version 2.0 of the New York Times Reader. But to think it is a model for saving the newspaper is wrong-headed. It is lovely to read with a nice search system and some nice layouts in the photo and video sections. You cannot however read anything but the NYTimes in it. You cannot customise sections or mark long articles for later reading. Sharing of articles is through the simplest of email forms and links in articles break you out of the app. and into your browser. TimesPeople, their own activity stream, is nowhere to be seen. You can’t list articles by author or subject or date. These are minor issues though. The main issue is should every newspaper release an AIR app.? Do you want 100 apps. for every newspaper and blog you read? No, you want one, readable and fast news app. A news aggregator with the readibility of Times Reader. Please. §
