ScreenFlow is my screencast tool of choice for Mac but Techsmith has just released a Mac version of the rather good Camtasia. §

Sweet flying spaghetti monster. This couple were denied adoption rights because they are (he) atheist and (she) pantheist. The judge ruled that because they did not believe in an Almighty God, a Supreme Being etc. that the child would be deprived and possibly biased by its parents. I’m an atheist and my child is free to grow up believing or not believing. Unlike many religious households I won’t be forcing my beliefs on her at the expense of others. §

GSM to be in the hands of 4 billion people world-wide. I wonder what other technologies can claim such. Though I do wonder if that is 4 billion unique people or 4 billion active phones (which would count many people twice who have two or three phones.) §

Travelling with just an iPod Touch. No laptop or mobile phone. I’ve been contemplating an iPod Touch and a basic Nokia instead of an iPhone. Not sure I can live with finding WiFi spots on the Touch all the time though. A shame it wouldn’t tether to a Nokia. §

Inventive mobile phone prototype. Though I worry about our obsession with weather gadgets when looking out the window does the job. §

MetaTweet is a simple idea I had while rocking Leah back to sleep at 3:30am. It allows you to add any metadata you want to any tweet. Location, a link, an image, video, or audio payload, language translations, semantic data etc. Any metadata you can’t yet add directly via Twitter. People could then use a simple REST API to POST or GET metadata for a tweet. e.g. http://twitter.com/paulmwatson/status/3499592026 could have extra metadata at http://metatweet.com/paulmwatson/status/3499592026. The URL structure would be the same as Twitter, just the domain is changed. Debatable whether you should own the tweet to add metadata to it, might be necessary to stop spam. Twitter clients could use MetaTweet as an extra information look-up when presenting tweets. The metadata would be an XML element (expressable as JSON) with a reasonable limit so that you don’t end up with 100mb payloads. A simple idea but useful I think (has this been tried for URLs in general? e.g. add metadata to any URL on the web?) §

The 32″ Sony Bravia HD-TV I bought 1.5 years ago for €899 is now selling for €399 in Tesco. Great TV I reckon. §

Mexico has legalised possession of small amounts of drugs for personal use. And not just dope but heroine, cocaine, LSD, amphetamines etc. §
