Prediction; Pieces like this on vast data centers will be quaint in 5 to 7 years time. Not quaint because data centers will be bigger but because vast data centers will die on the vine. Applications and the resources they need will spread to the edges of the web. We centralise because of latency (and efficiency) but we will find ways around this issue. Data-centers are not like human-centers (cities) where clustering brings about unexpected boon (Sergey bumping into Larry and founding Google.) §
