Nick is bang on about favicons. Such a simple feature turns out to be hellish to handle. One reasonable solution is to use Google’s favicon cache API.

Turns out doctypes in HTML are, practically, a lot simpler than I thought. This is used over at Google and apparently it will be used in HTML5. No more templates or copying and pasting from previous HTML.

Apparently you can make a living from this. My 4 month old makes sounds like that regularly.
