AVCHD is proving to be as difficult as I was warned it would be. Best option so far is using the nightly build of VLC for Mac OS X to convert MTS to MPEG4. The supplied Canon HF100 software is god awful (Windows only too.)

The charging indicator on the Canon HF100 is not great. 1 second pulse means charging, 0.5 second pulse means error and constantly-lit means charged. Difference between 0.5 and 1.0 second is only clear when you finally force it into an error.

Scoop is a nice HTTP sniffer for Mac OS X. Just be sure to use port 80 for your Rails app if you are working locally.

Never, ever leave a red Christmas paper towel in your pants pocket and then wash them. You will never get it out, the colour and the bits of, now pink, paper.

Canon HF100 just arrived. Battery is charging but first impressions are good. Nicely made, fits well in the hand and it comes with more cables than the Space Shuttle.
